JBLM Announces Day & Nighttime Artillery Training This Week

If you live near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, expect a little extra noise for the next few days.

LAKEWOOD, WA — If you live in Lakewood, you know the drill (pun intended): prepare for a little extra noise from Joint Base Lewis-McChord this week.

The base announced Monday that they will be conducting artillery and demolitions training starting at 5 a.m. Tuesday, and running all hours of the day and night until 11 p.m. Thursday.

During artillery training, JBLM Army units fire live munitions into a designated "artillery impact area" on JBLM's main campus.

As anyone who lives near the base can tell you, those artillery shells can cause some noise for the surrounding area.

More on the training and the potential noise can be found on JBLM's website.
