LAKEWOOD, WA — Love Lakewood? Here's an opportunity to share that love with others, and get paid to make it happen!

The City of Lakewood has sent out a call seeking proposals for ideas that encourage tourism and promote Lakewood's cultural activities. The city will then take the best proposals, and give them grant awards to make their ideas a reality.

“Lakewood has so much to offer: international food, freshwater lakes, gorgeous parks, history & heritage, family-friendly events, and more," said Jim Kopriva, Communications Manager for the City of Lakewood. "The City invites proposals to invite newcomers and create new attractions.”

Organizations supported by this grant program in the past include the Lakewood Historical Society, Lakewood Gardens, the Asia Pacific Cultural Center and the Historic Fort Steilacoom Association.

One grant even helped pave the way for the website nearcation.com, which helps Lakewood residents find fun things to do around town.
