• Lakewood Police Department asks for help finding two missing children (thenewstribune.com) — Lakewood police are asking for the public’s help locating two children taken by their non-custodial mother and last seen in Renton on December 28. Authorities say the children’s guardian in Mississippi has legal custody, and while investigators don’t believe the kids are in imminent danger, they warn the suspect may be armed and urge anyone who spots them to call 911 immediately.

• Federal Judge Orders Prison Sentences in Celebrity Romance Scam (townhall.com) — A Lakewood resident has been sentenced in federal court for helping run a nationwide romance scam that targeted mostly elderly victims and contributed to one man’s suicide. The scheme involved impersonating celebrities and top federal officials to pressure victims into sending money, and the three convicted participants must now serve prison time and repay hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution.
