Youth Shotgun Safety & Fun Shoot: Register Now

There's still one week left to register for the free Youth Shotgun Safety & Fun Shoot for ages 8-16 at JBLM's skeet range Aug. 3.

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, WA — Would you like your kids to learn firearm safety from professionals? Joint Base Lewis-McChord is hosting the 12th annual Youth Shotgun Safety & Fun Shoot at its on-base skeet and trap range on Aug. 3, and there's still one week left to register to participate.

The Youth Shotgun Safety & Fun Shoot is a free event for both first-time shooters and experienced youth between 8 and 16 years old. A weapon, ammunition, hearing protection and eye safety equipment will all be provided at the event, along with training assistance from well-versed firearm experts.

Instruction will include an introductory briefing, a handling demonstration, a walk-through of shooting stations, and of course safety tips and supervision.

Registration opened July 19 and will continue through Aug. 2, one day before the event. Registration is required and can be completed by calling 253-967-7056.

The Youth Shotgun Safety & Fun Shoot will held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3, with a free lunch provided between noon and 1 p.m., at 3969 2nd Division Range Rd. at JBLM.
