2 Women Scorned, South Hill Action, And A Conspicuous Thief: PPD
Two women don't take well to their boyfriends, lots of people try stealing from South Hill Mall, and a thief chooses a poor moment.

PUYALLUP, WA β As Christmas approaches fast and furious, shoplifting at South Hill Mall seems to have increased; two guys reportedly locked themselves in a port-a-potty for no good reason; and Loss Prevention staff at The Home Depot thwart a potential shoplifting scheme. This is your Puyallup Police Department crime log for Dec. 7 - 10.
Vehicle Prowl
1100-block of Ninth Street Southeast
A man reported tools were burgled from his van during the night. He was a unable to provide serial numbers, and he was unsure how his van was accessed. Police have no suspects or evidence in this case.

Theft/Making False Statements
South Hill Mall - 3500 S. Meridian
A 15-year-old girl was caught shoplifting from rue21 at the South Hill Mill. When confronted by officers, the girl reportedly lied about her name. She was taken to Remann Hall Pierce County Juvenile Detention Center.

South Hill Mall - 3500 S. Meridian
Two people, a man and woman, stole multiple North Face jackets with a total value of $1,100 from DICK's Sporting Goods. The man, described as white and Hispanic, has tattoos across his face.
Theft
1300-block of 12th Avenue Northwest
A woman in the neighborhood reported her mailbox was among seven she found open when she got home. The woman said a package of clothing may have been stolen. Police have no suspect information in this case.
Retail Theft with Extenuating Circumstances
Macy's at South Hill Mall - 3500 S. Meridian
A man and woman were caught stealing clothes from Macy's. Both reportedly had warrants for their arrests, and one of them was carrying a magnet that was used to defeat clothing security devices.
Warrant Arrest
Safeway - 611 S. Meridian
An officer conducting a security check in the Safeway parking lot spotted what he perceived to be a suspicious vehicle occupied by a lone man. The man reportedly had multiple warrants and was subsequently arrested.
Driving While License Suspended/Warrant
South Hill Mall - 3700 S. Meridian
An officer pulled over a car occupied by two men who both, the officer learned, had warrants for their arrests. One of the men also had drug paraphernalia.
After the men consented to a search of the vehicle, officers found heroin and methamphetamine.
Disorderly Conduct
Riverwalk Trail, underneath Highway 512
Two men locked themselves inside a Honey Bucket port-a-potty underneath the WA-512 overpass by tying the door shut. Another transient in the area who tried to use the toilet was unable to because the men were reportedly preparing to inject heroin.
When police arrived, they were unable to find any drugs but confirmed the door was tied shut. The men inside reportedly offered various stories as to how that came to be. Both men in the Honey Bucket were trespassed from the Riverwalk Trail for 45 days.
Order Violation
400-block of East Main Avenue
An officer pulled over a man who was reportedly driving with unspecified defective equipment. The man was traveling with someone a judge previously ordered him not to contact. The man was arrested.

2200-block of Seventh Avenue Southwest
A burglar "punched the lock" on a truck and stole trimming power tools and a leaf blower, police said. The victim could not provide serial numbers for the tools or any suspect evidence.
Theft
The Home Depot - 303 35th Ave. SE
Loss Prevention staff at The Home Depot called police to report someone in the store they recognized as being associated with an organized retail theft ring. The suspect reportedly had a getaway driver parked near an emergency exit when police arrived.
Police contacted the driver and arrested the individual on a warrant; the driver was also charged with driving while suspended. The suspect in the store was contacted before actually stealing anything and was trespassed from the property.

Target - 3310 S. Meridian
Police responding to a burglary call in the Target parking lot learned the victim's garage door openers, vehicle registration, and a set of earrings were stolen from their car. While investigating, the officer spotted the suspect's vehicle still driving around the parking lot β roughly 30 minutes after the burglary.
The officer stopped the car and learned the driver, a woman, was driving while suspended and had a warrant out for her arrest. The officer "advised" the woman regarding her warrant because she was apparently eight months pregnant. Her passenger, a man, told the officer where he'd hidden the burgled property and was arrested.
Most of the property was reportedly recovered.

Charming Charlie at South Hill Mall - 3500 S. Meridian
A woman was spotted shoplifting two tote bags full of merchandise, but she reportedly escaped. Charming Charlie, however, provided investigators with surveillance footage.
Domestic Violence (DV)/ Malicious Mischief
Bradley Lake Apartments - 2300 Seventh St. SE
After getting dumped by her boyfriend, a woman reportedly poured bleach on his carpet. She was not found when police arrived but was cited through the court nonetheless.
DWLS/Warrant
600-block of River Rd.
A woman who was pulled over for multiple traffic violations was also found to be driving while suspended in addition to having multiple driving while suspended warrants. She was subsequently arrested.
Theft/Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Walmart - 310 31st Ave. SE
Police arrested a woman for shoplifting.
DUI
400-block of River Road
A man who was pulled over for multiple traffic violations turned out to be drunk. He provided three Blood Alcohol Content levels more than double the legal limit. He was arrested for driving under the influence.
Collision/Negligent Driving/Theft
1000-block of Ninth Street Southwest
While an officer arrested a drunk driver who crashed his car along Ninth Street, a transient walking by the scene reportedly took from the hood of the officer's car the money, cell phone, vape pen, and other miscellaneous items the officer had pulled from the drunk driver's pockets. The officer reportedly watched the theft occur and quickly arrested the transient, who was taken to jail for theft along with the drunk driver he'd just attempted to rob.
Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
Walmart - 310 31st Ave. SE
A concerned patron at Walmart called police after spotting a man slumped over in his car who wouldn't wake when the patron honked their horn. When officers arrived they learned the car's plates had been reported stolen from Everett and the car, a rental, was stolen from Federal Way.
Officers roused the slumbering driver and arrested him.
Theft
Victoria's Secret at South Hill Mall - 3500 S. Meridian
On Dec. 7, two women β one black, one white β was spotted stealing nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from the "Pink" side of the Victoria's Secret store. Both Victoria's Secret and the South Hill Mall provided investigators with video of the women and their getaway vehicle.

The Loose Wheel Pit Stop - 715 River Rd.
A woman reported her car was broken into through a window while it was parked at The Loose Wheel. Her anxiety medicine and a "Nightmare Before Christmas"-themed purse were stolen.
DUI/DWLS/Violate Interlock Device
1200-block of Shaw Road
Officers called to Absher Construction regarding a suspicious person on the property found a conspicuously impaired man driving in the area. He was arrested after officers requested a search warrant to draw the man's blood.
He was also carrying a small amount of meth.
Trespassing Arrest
7-Eleven - 121 E. Stewart Ave.
After telling an unwanted customer to leave the convenience store "over a prolonged period of time," the clerk sat 7-Eleven on East Stewart called police, who subsequently arrested the bothersome man for trespassing.

Safeway - 611 S. Meridian
A person reported a car break-in and purse theft at the Safeway parking lot. Police have no suspect information.
Vehicle Theft
500 Fifth St. NE
A person reported their car was stolen overnight. The car reportedly had "The Club" security device engaged over the steering wheel when it was stolen. Police have no suspect information in this case.
DV Assault
500-block 11th Street Northwest
A drunk woman attacked her boyfriend, kicking his legs, slapping his face, and tearing his shirt, which left scratches across his chest. The boyfriend called 911, so the woman grabbed a knife from the kitchen and threatened to slit her own throat.
When police arrived, the woman calmed down and was arrested without further incident.
Motor Vehicle Theft
Willow Gardens - 4502 Sixth St. SE
A woman left the keys in her light blue 1989 Chevrolet Camaro when she got to work, and her co-worker watched as it was stolen from the parking lot.
Theft from Vehicle
Kindercare - 310 43rd Ave. SE
A woman's purse was stolen when her car was broken into while parked at Kindercare. In the purse were the woman's driver's license, $60 in cash, debit cards for Boing Employee's Credit Union (BECU) and HSA, and credit cards for Fred Meyer, Best Buy, Sears, and J.C. Penney.
The Best Buy card was later used at TJ Maxx and Dollar Tree in Puyallup.
Police may get surveillance images of the theft from the nearby Les Schwab.
