A man brings "a strange female" home to mom's regret, multiple out-of-town ID thefts, and one guy wants his ex to just leave him alone.

PUYALLUP, WA β€” One man assaults his pregnant girlfriend in front of her 3-year-old son, multiple people are caught driving around with drug paraphernalia in their laps, and a woman learns that lying to the police is never really a good idea; this is your Puyallup Police Department crime log for Nov. 17 through 20.

Vehicle Prowl

3310 S. Meridian β€” Target

The victim’s BMW was entered yesterday between 2 and 4:50 p.m. while she was shopping. The suspect, a white female, placed a small child in the back seat of a black SUV and then walked over to the victim’s car.

She is seen entering the vehicle through the unlocked rear driver side door. The suspect stole cosmetics before leaving the lot. The theft was captured on video.

A 38-year-old male, who recently moved here from LA and lives with his mother, brought a strange female into his bedroom early this morning. Mom found her in the room and an argument ensued.

The male grabbed a small machete and threatened mom with it. He took a couple of swings at the front door and then further threatened her while standing in the front yard holding the machete. She called β€œ911” and he hid the machete in the bushes behind their residence in Bradley Lake Park. He jumped on a bicycle and fled.

Several units responded to the area to locate him. An officer was searching the area behind the home and noticed the male on the bicycle on College Way.

The Officer gave chase on foot and watched as the male pedaled quickly through the trail southbound and onto the Bradley Lake Park trail. He continued south to Lowe’s where several units met him. He was chased through the parking lot and onto 37th Avenue Southeast at Fifth Street Southeast. He refused to stop and ignored commands.

An officer deployed his Taser and several assisted with taking him into custody. He later showed us where he hid the machete. He was booked at Pierce County Jail.

Trespass Notification

3500 S. Meridian β€” Target

A 39-year-old male was walking through the mall yelling and cursing at customers. Mall security followed him to Target where we contacted him and issued a trespass notification at their request. He used his cellular phone to video record the contact.

He was provided his copy and began leaving the property walking backwards in an effort to continue video recording. As he stopped recording and turned around to walk away, he ran face first into the red metal pole in front of Target. He left the property quickly after hurting not only his face but his pride.

A 41-year-old male attempted to steal $454.94 worth of merchandise on two separate occasions today before he was caught by Loss Prevention. The male had a β€œtooter” on his person with black residue that tested positive for Heroin. He also had a Felony DOC warrant for VUCSA Attempt.

Target also advised they identified him as the suspect in five prior thefts on different days totaling $859.94. He was booked on today’s theft and details on the five prior thefts was forwarded to SIU and the Puyallup Prosecutors.

Theft

1504 E. Main Ave. β€” Union 76

At 7:35 p.m. the suspect distracted the clerk and stole eight scratch-it tickets and a pack of cigarettes off the counter. The suspect and another male subject fled on foot across 15th Street Southeast and were not located.

These are the same subjects who stole scratch-it tickets from 7-Eleven on Oct. 23 and were driving a silver 2003 325 BMW. The previous case number is 1829601918. Report to SIU.

UPDP/Warrant Arrest

4102 S. Meridian β€” Ross

An Officer contacted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot and observed obvious drug paraphernalia sitting on 45-year-old male’s lap. He was detained and when he stood up a blue container fell from his lap.

Consent was given to retrieve the blue container and paraphernalia. Inside the blue container was 0.2 grams of Heroin. He also had a misdemeanor warrant out of Auburn PD. He was booked.

False Statements

804 South Hill Park Dr. β€” Chevron

An officer contacted a suspicious vehicle in the area of a possible mailbox prowler. One of the occupants lied about her name to conceal a Puyallup warrant that she thought she may have. Unfortunately for the female she did not have a Puyallup warrant but the lie about her name earned her a trip to jail anyway.

Resisting Arrest/DOC Warrant

333 S. Meridian

A 40-year-old male has been utilizing Freezing Nights. The male’s behavior issues have been causing programs for program managers. He was contacted last night and again this morning after program facilitators called in a disturbance, thought to be a physical DV.

He left First Christian Church and walked towards New Hope. He stopped at City Hall on the way and urinated on the wall. He was called in by a passerby and contacted by officers. There was no PC from the church and he was released.

An Officer worked with SS911 Records to get SCORE to take the male on his active DOC warrant. He was re-contacted near the front of City Hall. When the Officer grabbed his arm (escort) and told him he was under arrest for his active warrant, he pulled away and took a fighting stance.

A draw/direct with the Taser had the desired effect and he was taken into custody (SWTL). He further resisted by pulling away and bucking around while officers attempted to get him into a police car. He was booked.

Vehicle Prowl

2101 N. Meridian β€” Crossland Tacoma - Puyallup

Sometime between 2:30 and 10:30 a.m., the victim’s β€œHusky” toolbox and several totes were stolen out of the bed of the truck. Some of the tools had an OAN of sorts – the number β€œ51” and/or orange paint. No video, suspects, or witnesses.

200-block of 37th Avenue Southeast

A female and a male were seen driving north on South Meridian. The passenger was seen injecting heroin. They stopped in front of Sportsman’s Warehouse. A lot of drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle and was visible on approach.

The female had a suspended license and the male was arrested for his warrants and paraphernalia. The female and her Huskie were released. They were parked between Walmart and Sportsman’s in her red Jeep Cherokee with Oregon license.

MVT Attempt

401 15th Ave. SE β€” Good Sam Parking Garage

Between 9:50 a.m. and 7:25 p.m. an unknown suspect attempted to steal the victim’s 2016 Yamaha FZ09 motorcycle. A key was found broken off in the ignition. Security is reviewing the surveillance footage for possible suspect information. Report to SIU.

D.V. Assault 4th/Exposing Minor to D.V.

2530 S. Meridian β€” Meridian West Apts

A 25-year-old male assaulted his 8-month pregnant girlfriend and fled the scene in a black 1991 Ford Explorer. The victim’s three-year-old son was present during the assault. An area check for his vehicle was unsuccessful.

PCSD responded to his mother’s address in Eatonville where the vehicle was registered but he was not there. Summons issued for the male.

Residential Burglary

1900-block of Ninth Avenue Southeast

Sometime between Nov. 15 and Wednesday morning, the victim’s residence, which is being remodeled, was broken into. Several tools and two sheets of plywood were stolen. Theft inventory being completed.

Shoplift/Trespass 1st/Warrant Arrest

3500 S. Meridian β€” Macy’s

A male attempted to steal clothing and was stopped by Loss Prevention. He also was previously indefinitely trespassed from the South Hill Mall and had a misdemeanor warrant out of BLPD for Theft 3rd. He was booked.

Theft

1299 Fourth St. NW β€” Skate Park

Yesterday around 6:30 p.m. two juveniles placed their cell phones on a park bench while they skated. When they went to retrieve their phones, they were gone. No one witnessed the theft. There is possible video surveillance from cameras at the park. Report to SIU.

DUI

900 39th Ave. SW

A male was stopped for a traffic violation. SFST’s were performed and he was determined to be impaired. He was arrested and provided a BAC of .115 and .110. Unknown drinking location. He was booked.

DUI/Hit & Run

310 31st Ave. SE β€” Walmart Parking Lot

A 56-year-old female crashed into a parked vehicle in the parking lot and failed to stop and leave her information. She later pretended to be asleep in her vehicle and stated she thought she only hit shopping carts.

She was determined to be impaired by prescription drugs and admitted to taking three 1mg Clonazepam tablets three hours earlier. She was arrested, and a blood search warrant was applied for, granted and served. She was booked.

FIR-Prowler

700-block of 21st Avenue Southwest

At 5:32 a.m. officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress at a garage where the homeowner confronted the suspect with pepper spray. The suspect was described as a white male, 30 to 40 years of age, wearing a dark colored baseball hat, dark colored jacket, and gray pants. He fled in a older silver sedan with a CA plate that returned to a 2005 Chevrolet with no make listed.

The vehicle fled through the cemetery and was not located. It was determined the suspect was looking through the homeowner’s carport and going through some cupboards when he was confronted. Nothing was stolen, and the homeowner would not be able to ID the suspect. Report to SIU.

200-block of 19th Avenue Southeast

Someone has written four checks to the victim’s account at Bank of America. The victim believes that maybe her checks were stolen out of her mailbox.

ID Theft

4100-block of Ninth Street Place Southeast

Someone has been using the victim’s information to open credit lines at various department stores outside the city. There is no suspect information.

Telephone Harassment

1300-block of 27th Avenue Court Northwest

A male reported that his ex-girlfriend is constantly texting him even though he has asked her to stop. An officer tried contacting her without success.

Hit and Run

31st Avenue and South Fruitland

A male driver collided with another vehicle and then fled the scene. Through an investigation an officer was able to identify the driver. He was mailed a citation.

Agency Assist/Pursuit

400-block River Road

PCSD began pursuing a vehicle at 72nd Street East/Vickery Avenue East, and the pursuit eventually entered Puyallup. The vehicle eventually crashed at River Road/Fourth Street Northwest, taking out a fire hydrant and metal railing at NW Motorsport.

A male fled from the vehicle on foot but was quickly arrested. CDO and Public Works notified. PPD officers had minimal involvement and were only notified of the pursuit shortly before the collision.

Theft/Warrant/False Statement/UPDP

3310 S. Meridian β€” Target

A male was arrested for shoplifting and was subsequently found to have a small amount of methamphetamine on his person. He continually lied about his name in order to conceal a felony DOC warrant. He was booked into Puyallup Jail.

Theft

700-block of Ninth Avenue Southeast

A male had $400 in clothing items stolen from the shared laundry room of this complex. He believes a recently evicted tenant may be responsible, but there is no evidence or surveillance footage to support that.

Burglary

4200-block of Crystal Lane Loop SE

Unknown suspect(s) broke a window on the front door and made entry. An audible alarm apparently scared the suspect(s) who fled and were not located. Nothing was found to be stolen, and no available surveillance footage.

Vehicle Prowl

107 37th Ave. SE β€” Shari’s

Between 12:20 p.m. and 1:50 a.m., unknown suspect(s) broke the driver side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a jacket. No surveillance footage or suspect information.

DUI Collision

3100 S. Meridian

A female caused a two-car collision at the intersection and was found to be DUI. She was unable to hold herself up during SFST’s and was ultimately arrested. She provided breath samples of .202, .208, .199, and .205 before being booked. She had been drinking at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Vehicle Theft

4100-block of Fourth Street Place Southwest

A 35-year-old male stole his mother’s 1997 Honda Accord. He did not have permission to take the vehicle. There is no way to contact him. The vehicle was entered as stolen.

Burglary

300-block of North Meridian

Sometime overnight someone broke into the business stealing change and a battery. This is related to an attempted MVTR where the battery was located next to the vehicle down the street. An officer was able to obtain prints from the scene.

Residential Burglary

1100-block of 14th Street Southwest

Sometime over the last three days someone entered the victim’s home that is under construction. The appliances and trim package was stolen along with a tile saw. The victim did not have any serial numbers. There are no suspects or evidence.

Fraud

1700-block of 14th Street Southwest

Victim reported that someone used her account information at a Panera in Virginia. There is no suspect information.
Vehicle Prowl

202 15th Ave. SW β€” Fairfield

Between 5:15 and 5:20 p.m., a work truck was prowled in front of the hotel. Multiple items were stolen, including an iPad and cell phone. The hotel is working on providing surveillance footage which should have captured the incident. Report to SIU.

Warrant Arrest

626 South Hill Park Dr. β€” Denny’s

Two officers contacted a suspicious, unlicensed vehicle in the parking lot. A male was found to have a DV Assault warrant which he was arrested and booked for. A female had multiple warrants out of Gig Harbor and Pierce County that they declined on.

4404 S. Meridian β€” Walgreens

While on a security check, two officers contacted a female. She was found to have a Puyallup UPDP warrant and a Thurston County no-bail DUI warrant. She was booked.
