Jodi Arias, I Don't Believe You
The Jodi Arias murder trial is Arizona is captivating television, but will she be found guilty of murder?
Have you been following the Jodi Arias murder trial?
I have been tuning in daily to watch her testimony on television, and am finding it harder and harder to believe her story.
She's too quick with excuses. Her lapses in memory happen at interesting times (including during and directly after the murder of Travis Alexander.) Her mousy appearance on the stand, compared to her bleach blonde days, is a weak attempt to make her look harmless and demure.Β

In my humble opinion, I believe she was in love and obsessed with Travis Alexander, and wouldn't let him go. He, on the other hand, probably only saw her as a fling. When she learned he was going on a romantic vacation with another woman, that was the final straw. She snapped, then planned. I believe she stole her grandpa's gun, drove all the way to his house unannounced, had sex, made him feel vulnerable and then killed him.
But will the jury feel the same way? Let's not forget the Casey Anthony trial out of Florida. It seemed like everything added up, but at the end of the day, she was found not guilty of killing her daughter and walks the streets as a free woman.

Today, the Arizona jury is able to ask Jodi questions directly. I think Arizona's policy of allowing jurors' to ask the defendant questions directly in a murder trial is interesting, and telling.
The juror questions to Jodi are specific:
"Why did you put the camera in the washer?"
"Did you ever take photos of yourself after he hit you?"
"Why did you call the cops on an ex who shook you, but never called the cops on Travis?"
The questions from jurors also revolve around Jodi and Travis' sex life, and her attitude toward sex in prior relationships. They ask her questions about Travis' apartment and how she was able to get to a gun so quickly.
Because she is being faced with the death penalty, however, I wonder how the jurors are taking it all in. Was she was a battered woman? She seems to still protect him (even on the stand), so isn't that a sign of domestic violence?
What about his sexual deviancy? (Personally, I don't believe a word of it. I think she allowed him to feel free to exploreΒ his sexuality, but I don't think he was a pedophile. Nothing was found on his computer! Nothing!)
I think Jodi Arias is a chronic liar, a calculating obsessive. It makes for captivating testimony and television, but what I keep thinking about is the reality of how awful Travis' family and friends must feel, having to listen to all of this every single day. He seemed like a nice person, to me. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about him that doesn't seem to be abusive.
