Influenza Activity 'Minimal' In Washington β So Far
The latest influenza report from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department shows low rates of influenza-related hospital visits so far.

PIERCE COUNTY, WA - Two of the four influenza-related deaths reported in Washington so far this year occurred in Pierce County, according to the latest influenza report from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. The two people who died, however, had multiple chronic illnesses that increased their risk for influenza-related complications, officials said.
Across the nation six children have died from influenza, though none of the Washington-reported deaths involved children.
"Pierce County influenza activity usually remains low through December and peaks in January and February, although sometimes later in the season," T-PCHD officials said in a statement. "Influenza activity will likely increase in the coming weeks. Healthcare providers should encourage patients to get an influenza vaccine."
