South Hill House Fire: Home A Total Loss, Pets Killed
Only one pet survived an accidental fire at a home in South Hill Monday night that ultimately displaced two residents.

SOUTH HILL, WA - A massive residential fire in South Hill Monday night displaced two people and killed several pets, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue Capt. Darrin Shaw. The Fire Marshal on Tuesday announced the blaze was accidental in nature, having originated in the home's living room, near a wood stove.
On Wednesday, CPF&R announced on Twitter that one of the homeowner's cats, Romeo, returned alive and relatively well. It's unclear how the cat escaped the fire, "but he did and is doing fine," CPF&R said.
Shaw said crews were on scene battling the fire at 134th Avenue and Bath Road east just before 9 p.m. Jan. 7. Shortly before 11 p.m. Shaw tweeted an update announcing the fire was under control.
