TRAFFIC ALERT: 3rd Street SE Reduced to One Lane
A car that was parked on 3rd St SE was hit by a downrigger that was left extended on a construction truck that was leaving Sparks Stadium just after 11 a.m.
A collision involving a large commercial vehicle has reduced 3rd Street SE in Puyallup to one lane.
According to Puyallup Police Sgt. Bob Thompson, the incident happened in the 300 block of 3rd Street SE on Thursday.
Witnesses say a car, parked on 3rd St SE, was hit by a downrigger that was left extended on a construction truck that was leaving Sparks Stadium just after 11 a.m.

The impact turned the car around and threw it past the sidewalk onto the lawn of a nearby home.
According to the homeowner, Myrna Harper, the car belonged to her husbandβs home health nurse.Β

βI thought it was a head-on collision. We were all inside and the sound was horrible,β Harper said. β[The home health nurse] usually sits in her car and does paperwork around lunchtime and calls her other patientsβ¦Luckily, she was still inside and getting ready to leave when the accident happened.β
Two trucks are on the scene now, and officials believe the scene should be cleared by 1 p.m.
No drugs or alcohol was involved, according to Sgt. Bob Thompson.
