Woman Killed In Spanaway Shooting, Deputies Seek Witnesses
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is hoping someone knows who killed a woman near Mountain Highway late Tuesday night.
SPANAWAY, WA β The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is trying to track down a killer after a woman's body was discovered on the side of the road in Spanaway earlier this week.
According to deputies, around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, a witness found the woman's corpse lying off of 208th St E, not far from Mountain Highway.
The witness dialed 911 to report the sighting, and deputies were dispatched to investigate. Once they arrived on scene, the sheriff's department says investigators quickly discovered the woman had "at least one" gunshot wound and determined her death was likely a homicide.

After canvassing the area, investigators learned the woman had been in a confrontation with a hooded suspect sometime between 9:20 and 9:30 p.m. Deputies say the fight was either in or near the road, near a parked sedan.
During the struggle, at least two cars passed by the scene, and deputies are hoping the drivers inside may have seen something that can help them track down the woman's killer.
