Sunset Park Phase 2 .jpg)
If you've been by Sunset Neighborhood Park, you've seen activity on the second and final construction phase. Phase 2 will include play equipment, exercise equipment, pergolas, a gazebo and a performance area.
The two playgrounds are designed for 2 to 5-year-olds and for 5 to 12-year-olds. Teens and adults have their own fitness area. We're also adding a large open grass area, walking paths, pergolas with seating, a picnic gazebo, a mist feature and art.
Completion is set for this fall, and we're very excited to add this fantastic new park to our city.
What's Fresh at the Farmers Market
Last week at the Renton Farmers Market, we saw the first peaches of the season! Expect to see more peaches this week, plus apricots, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, broccoli, rhubarb, cucumbers, squash and more. Plenty of fresh flowers, herbs and baked goods will be available too! The market is open from 3 to 7 p.m. in downtown Renton at Gateway Park (S. Third St. and Logan Ave. S.). Please wear your mask and be patient as the number of shoppers allowed inside the market is limited to promote social distancing.

Free Virtual Programming
Our Recreation and Neighborhoods division has been busy coming up with free virtual programming for you to participate in at home with your family!
This is the second week of Campin’ Out. The four-week Campin’ Out series features outdoor-themed activities that can be done inside or outside. They are streamed on the Community Services Facebook page or via Zoom. This week's theme is "Under the Stars" and features story time, a blast-off workout and other star-themed activities.
Today, Tuesday July 14, pick up a free constellation and s’mores kit at the Renton Community Center! Kits available from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. or until supplies last.
Trivia Tuesday returns! Tonight at 6:30, test your Disney knowledge in "World of Disney" night. There will be three rounds: Disney, Pixar and Star Wars. Plus, sing along as we play music from your favorite Disney soundtracks. Send us a video of your lip-syncing abilities! Register here. You will be placed in a waiting room until trivia begins at 6:30 p.m.
All virtual programming is free and open to all.
Mask Pickup at Renton Community Center
We are in the process of giving out 20,000 masks to the Renton community! Distributions are Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. or Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Renton Community Center throughout July or until our supply is exhausted. On our first day last week, our Community Services Department, Recreation and Neighborhoods Division gave out 4,250 masks. Residents should drive to the community center's main entrance to pick up two five-mask packets to each vehicle. No I.D. required and please, only one trip through. Seniors picking up lunches at the Renton Senior Activity Center will also receive masks.
