RENTON, WA, 12/11/2025 — River levels along the Cedar River from Renton to the Landsburg Road SE area will remain high and with a likelihood of reaching record levels through Saturday. Deep and fast flows of water will likely make local roads impassable, including SR 169. Leaving by vehicle should still be possible, however, if you need additional assistance leaving the area, the King County Sheriff’s Office is available by calling 9-1-1.

Safe Travel and Route Guidance
Flooding continues to cause hazardous travel conditions across parts of King County. If you are traveling in the Cedar River or Maple Valley area, please follow these recommendations to keep yourself and emergency crews safe: • Avoid driving or walking through any standing or moving water. Just 6 inches of flowing water can knock a person off their feet, and 12 inches can sweep a car away.
• Do not bypass road closures. Barricades are in place for your safety. Conditions can shift quickly, and roads may be undermined or unstable.
• Use high-ground routes whenever possible. Major detours are in place on higher-elevation corridors to help people avoid flood-prone areas.
• Road closure and key routes to avoid: Maple Valley Highway, also known as Highway 169, is expected to experience flooding. The other arterials to the west remain mostly unaffected. For the latest information on road closures, visit King County My Commute at: rentonrfa.com/mycom
Please monitor King County’s official updates at kcemergency.com or follow @KingCountyOEM on social media for the latest road conditions, shelter availability, and safety guidance.
You can also call the King County Flood Warning Center, 206-296-8200 or 1-800-945-9263, website: flood.kingcounty.gov for info on river levels, flood conditions, and sandbag resources and distribution.
King County emergency responders, road crews, and local partners are working around the clock to support impacted communities. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping yourself and your neighbors safe.
