1. City still fixing Cedar River damage caused by 2020 flood (rentonreporter.com) — Renton is still working to fix Cedar River trail and riverbank damage from the major 2020 flood, with construction now unlikely before 2027. The city is coordinating with FEMA, state agencies, and the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe to stabilize the bank, relocate part of the trail uphill, and improve salmon habitat, but complex rules and reviews are slowing progress. 
2. City to acquire four properties on East Valley Road (rentonreporter.com) — Renton is moving ahead with using eminent domain to acquire four parcels on East Valley Road for a new parks maintenance shop and potentially a community resource center. The council-approved ordinance covers about 5.9 acres, currently occupied by Compton Lumber, with compensation coming from the city’s general fund or other available money. The owner requested eminent domain after a prior purchase agreement fell through.
3. 2026 Washington State Minimum Wage Update (natlawreview.com) — Renton workers and employers will see higher local minimum wages starting January 1, 2026, with large employers paying at least $21.57 an hour and mid-sized employers $20.57. Mid-sized employers’ rate will rise again July 1 so that all Renton employers with at least fifteen workers pay the same hourly minimum, on top of a statewide increase to $17.13.
4. Basketball Recap: Auburn's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six (maxpreps.com) — Renton hoops fans may notice Auburn’s undefeated Trojans recently topped Renton 87-74 during their six-game winning streak, capped by Friday’s tight 77-73 win over Kennedy Catholic. The recap highlights Auburn’s revenge victory, their 6-0 start, and upcoming matchups against Kentridge and Tahoma in continued South King County basketball action.
