October Recreation Activities Available

In case you missed it, last week we announced our Recreation and Neighborhoods Programming for October. Virtual and in-person classes and activities are available for all ages. Learn more about the October offerings and register.

Census Extended Until October 31

The U.S. Census Bureau announced the 2020 Census count will continue through October 31. In Renton, 74.9% of households have filled out the Census but it is crucial everyone is counted so we can have access to funding for critical programs and infrastructure. If you haven’t filled out your survey yet, you can do so online or call 844-330-2020 (English) or 844-468-2020 (Spanish).

RPD Take Me Home Program

Renton Police Department would like to remind the public of the Take Me Home Program. The program is designed to safely return loved ones who may have difficulty communicating or may need special assistance during an emergency. This assistance may be required if the person cannot speak or correctly identify themselves. It’s also helpful if they are disoriented or behave in a manner that could be misinterpreted by first responders.

When someone is registered in this program, the officer can look at the Take Me Home database and search by name, physical description or unique characteristics. Once their record has been located, the officer then has the information at-hand to properly assist them. The registrant(s) do not have to reside within Renton city limits to qualify for this program. Register for this program.

Grants from Arts Commission

The Renton Municipal Arts Commission offers grants to individuals, organizations and community groups for arts and culture projects and events that serve the general public in Renton. Grants from $1,000-$10,000 are available to fund your innovative projects that fill cultural gaps and inspire new forms of creative participation, particularly for underserved groups. The deadline is rolling, so apply today!

Green and Clean Volunteer Opportunities

We have two upcoming Green and Clean opportunities this month, and we need volunteers! Tasks include picking up litter, pulling weeds and adding play chips to the playground.

All tools are provided. Each group is limited to five volunteers. Face coverings are required and will be provided. Make a volunteer profile and sign up for your timeslot.

Orange Seating Downtown

Next time you visit downtown Renton, you may notice bright orange tables and chairs! In collaboration with the Renton Downtown Partnership, local shops will have these tables and chairs to welcome people to sit, relax and interact. Be on the lookout while you are patronizing downtown shops for these colorful spots. Make sure to call your favorite restaurant or shop before visiting to double-check hours.

PSE Offering Free Energy Upgrade for Four Lucky Small Businesses

Puget Sound Energy is offering four small businesses the opportunity to win an energy-efficient makeover. Winners will receive $30,000 in energy efficient upgrades and an additional $15,000 for cosmetic upgrades.
