1. Renton program focuses on reducing commuter traffic (rentonreporter.com) — Renton is updating its four-year Commute Reduction Plan to cut single-occupancy car trips and adapt to post-pandemic hybrid work. Backed by state funding, the city is surveying major employers, promoting ORCA transit benefits, and expanding bike-to-work efforts along local trails to keep traffic and emissions down while supporting a lively downtown.
   

2. Renton PD to step up drone force (rentonreporter.com) — Renton police are expanding their Drone as First Responder program, stationing nine drones around the city to speed up and improve emergency responses. A new Axon contract also brings anti-drone defenses, upgraded Tasers, real-time translation for body cameras, and a crime center platform integrating live video and drone feeds.
   

3. WSDOT extends express toll lanes on SR 167 by six miles (kiro7.com) — If you drive SR 167 near Renton, your express toll lane options just expanded, with tolling now running between Renton and Pacific and a new six‑mile extension south to Sumner. Carpoolers and motorcyclists can still ride free, but only with Good To Go! passes and proper settings, while all other drivers will pay variable rates based on traffic and entry points.
   

4. Sounders bringing Paul Arriola along slowly after ACL injury (yakimaherald.com) — Seattle Sounders preseason is underway at the team’s Renton training facility, where winger Paul Arriola is back in full training but being eased in after last year’s ACL tear. Coaches are also weighing a goalkeeper battle between Stefan Frei and Andrew Thomas, while newly hired assistant Ricardo Clark joins the staff and several internationals prepare to rejoin the squad.
