AWS Outage Disrupts Websites Tuesday

The outage left publishers that were trying to cover former president Donald Trump's court appearance in Miami unable to run their websites.

SEATTLE — Amazon Web Services, the tech giant’s cloud platform, experienced a major outage Tuesday, according to reports.

The cloud, which serves millions of customers including government agencies, had an issue with AWS Lambda, which allows clients to run code for applications, the Associated Press reported. The outage left publishers that were trying to cover former president Donald Trump’s court appearance in Miami unable to run their websites, according to the outlet.

Downdetector showed a massive spike in AWS outage reports around 10:45 a.m. PST. Roughly two hours later, reported outages had dropped to less than half the peak of 12,135.
