• Seattle City Light company town cut off by flooding; Army Corps takes over dam (seattletimes.com) — Flooding on the Skagit River has cut off Seattle City Light’s company town of Newhalem and prompted the Army Corps of Engineers to temporarily take over Ross Dam operations, pausing power generation there. Diablo and Gorge dams are still running, and officials say Seattle’s overall electricity supply remains stable while they balance flood control and reservoir storage.

• Seattle School Board reelects officers, hears immigration concerns (seattletimes.com) — Seattle families should know the School Board kept its leadership team in place while facing intense public testimony about immigration enforcement around city schools, especially in South Seattle. Directors also reviewed a large ongoing budget deficit and moved school choice open enrollment up to Jan. 5, 2026, so families can learn placements earlier and access more summer options.
