• 1 dead, 1 hospitalized after kayaker's distress call at Ballard Locks (komonews.com) — A water rescue at Seattle’s Ballard Locks on Friday left one man dead and another hospitalized in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center. Seattle Fire crews pulled both men from the water after a kayaker’s distress call, and Seattle police are now investigating what happened. The incident unfolded along the 3200 block of W. Commodore Way.
   

• Western WA landslide risk high after heavy rainfall (seattletimes.com) — Seattle-area hillsides are now at high risk for landslides after more than 4 inches of rain in the past week pushed the region past federal danger thresholds. King County crews are responding to multiple active slides and road closures, especially near steep slopes and I-90, while officials urge residents across Western Washington to stay alert to rapidly shifting ground conditions.
