King County Prosecutor's Race: 2022 Election Night Results
King County will have a new top prosecutor for the first time in 15 years. Here's the first look at results on election night.

RENTON, WA — The first round of election results is here for one of this year's most closely watched races, and voters are getting the first glimpse at how the contest is shaping up for who will be the next King County Prosecuting Attorney.
Longtime incumbent Dan Satterberg announced in January that he would not seek a fifth term, kicking off the office's first competitive race in 15 years. Satterberg's chief of staff, Leesa Manion, quickly entered the race, picking up endorsements from her boss and a slate of local leaders and organizations.

Manion's challenger is Jim Ferrell, a former deputy prosecutor and current mayor of Federal Way.
In debates, the pair have pitched much different approaches to the job, with Ferrell casting Manion as the status quo advocating to lower the dollar threshold needed to prosecute thefts as felonies. Manion has touted her nearly 15 years of experience as chief of staff, and successes in implementing new public safety programs, victim services, and diversion programs.

A recent poll by the Northwest Progressive Institute found Manion and Ferrell virtually tied, with plenty of voters still undecided. The first round of results showed Manion up 11 points on election night.
The Secretary of State's office estimated there were 152,000 King County ballots left to process after election night.
Here's where the race stood on election night:
- Leesa Manion: 55.26%
- Jim Ferrell: 44.19%
Tuesday's first returns do not reflect last-minute ballots, and the tallies will change daily as more votes are counted. In Washington, ballots returned in the last two days of the voting period can make up more than half of the total, and percentages can change greatly in the first few days.
King County Elections will release updated ballot totals each day by 4 p.m. until the election is certified.
