SEATTLE — After a calmer stretch of weather, Seattle forecasters are keeping tabs on new chances for lowland snow accumulations early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, things should stay dry Thursday and Friday, with afternoon highs landing in the low 40s and overnight temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to low 30s.

A rain/snow mix may be possible at low elevations Saturday night and Sunday, but forecasters expect most will stay north of Seattle, with minor accumulations possible in Whatcom County and light snow in the Cascades.

While forecast models have yet to reach a consensus, and a fair bit of uncertainty remains, a colder airmass moving into the area could spell more meaningful snow between Monday and Thursday.

"A few weather systems could impact the area bringing the threat for accumulating snowfall to the lowlands," NWS Seattle wrote Wednesday. "Confidence is low in lowland snowfall chances and accumulations given the uncertainty in temperature trends and arrival of moisture."

Exactly how much cold air filters into Western Washington and the timing of precipitation will make all the difference. Early predictions for next week show overnight lows around freezing for most of next week, with a small chance they could tumble into the low 20s or even teens.
