📰 News we're reading
• Another Seattle ferry route down to one-boat service (seattletimes.com) — If you rely on Seattle’s ferries to Bainbridge or Bremerton, expect delays as both routes are down to one-boat service after mechanical problems sidelined the Tacoma and Walla Walla. The state doesn’t yet know when full service will return, so riders are urged to check one-boat schedules, consider Kitsap Transit’s fast ferry, and monitor WSDOT’s vessel watch for updates.

• Car fire leads to an explosion in Southwest Seattle (kiro7.com) — Seattle police and fire crews responded to a cargo van fire in a wooded area of Southwest Seattle, where an improvised device inside exploded and sparked a large blaze. Officers initially thought someone might be trapped, but the van was empty and no injuries were reported. The SPD Arson Bomb Squad is investigating after firefighters fully extinguished the flames.

• Growing Up in Washington During the 50s, 60s, and 70s (kffm.com) — Seattle Baby Boomers will recognize a flood of memories here, from Ivar’s on the waterfront before ballgames to the 1962 World’s Fair, the monorail, and pre-grunge Jimi Hendrix. The story strolls through mid-century Washington life, spotlighting iconic Seattle music, sports, shopping, and rainy-day adventures that younger generations now only see in vintage clips.
