Funded efforts range from green stormwater infrastructure in South Seattle to youth gardening, hydroponics, and Indigenous land stewardship, all aimed at communities most impacted by climate and environmental inequities.
   

2. Judge rules defendant competent for trial in brutal attack on 75-year-old woman in Seattle (komonews.com) — A man accused of a brutal, random assault on a 75-year-old woman in downtown Seattle has been ruled competent to stand trial, allowing the case to move forward. Prosecutors and Seattle police describe him as a repeat offender, and he remains jailed on high bail while a trial is scheduled for early next year.

Seattle sees record number of bike and scooter trips (kiro7.com) — Seattle’s shared bike and scooter use has surged to more than 10 million trips in 2025, helped by new protected bike lanes and expanded infrastructure. SDOT says the growth cuts short car trips, lowers emissions, and will drive major downtown parking expansions ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with discounted fare options available for eligible riders.
   

5. Seattle woman finds hidden cameras aimed at her home (fox13seattle.com) — A Beacon Hill resident says she twice discovered hidden, camouflaged cameras aimed at her Seattle home and has turned footage over to police. Seattle officers are investigating, asking for help identifying two men seen on video, while the woman urges neighbors to stay alert and check for suspicious devices around their own properties.
