Seattle Pedestrian Dies In Friday Night Collision
Police said the male victim was hit while crossing the street with two other people. The driver left the scene, but later returned.
SEATTLE, WA —The Seattle Police Department said it continues to investigate a Friday night traffic collision in West Seattle that resulted in the death of a male pedestrian.
According to KIRO, officers initially reported the collision as a hit-and-run, but police said the driver of the vehicle did return to the scene.
The collision happened just after 10 p.m. in the 5400 block of California Avenue Southwest and had multiple witnesses, police said.

According to police reports, three people were dropped off by a car on the west side of California Avenue Southwest. As the pedestrians crossed to the east side of the street in the middle of the block, a vehicle traveling northbound struck one of the pedestrians.
"At this point, we don't believe the pedestrians were walking on a marked crosswalk," a Seattle police spokesperson told KIRO.

The SPD said officers and Seattle Fire Department medics responded to the scene and found an adult male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The man, whose identity has not been revealed, was declared dead at the scene.
Though the motorist originally drove away, Seattle police said the driver returned to the scene and cooperated with police.
According to Seattle police, the department's Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) interviewed and evaluated the driver at the scene. Officers said no signs of impairment were detected. The department has not said if the driver will face charges.
TCIS detectives also interviewed witnesses and collected evidence at the scene, and they continue to investigate the incident, according to the SPD.
KIRO reported that it was raining on Friday night, though police have not said if the weather was a factor in the collision.
