Snoqualmie, Stevens Resorts Open For The Season

WASHINGTON — The skiing and snowboarding season is kicking into high gear this week, as recent snows have allowed more major resorts to welcome visitors back to the slopes for another winter.

The Summit at Snoqualmie

The Summit at Snoqualmie opened Summit West to pass holders Tuesday, thanks to "heaps of snow." Summit and Ikon pass holders have exclusive access through Wednesday before ticket sales begin on Thursday, Dec. 16. The first batch of runs to open include Pacific Crest, Little Thunder and Magic Carpet, with the mountain open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Since it's still early, the resort cautioned that snow depth is still relatively low and visitors should watch out for hazards and expect the best conditions will be on the main runs.

With more snow in the forecast, the resort said more areas could be ready to open soon, including Summit Central, Silver Fir and Alpental. An opening date for Snoqualmie's Tubing Park is expected to be announced shortly.

Due to ongoing pandemic-related precautions, face coverings are required at all times inside buildings, except when actively eating or drinking. Proof of vaccination is required to dine inside at Summit West and Alpental.

However, ski lifts will resume full capacity loads and chairs can include members from outside the group.

Stevens Pass

Opening Day at Stevens Pass arrives Wednesday morning, starting with the Daisy Chair, Skyline Express and Brooks Express lifts. Things will look a little more like normal this season, with ski lifts and gondolas running at full capacity and reservations not required to access the mountain.

Like Snoqualmie, other pandemic protocols will be in place, including mask use and some indoor dining vaccination requirements. Both resorts are also maintaining fully cashless transactions.
