Snow Cancels Dozens Of Flights At SEA Airport
Wintry weather prompted dozens of flight cancellations Monday morning at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. More could be on the way.

SEATTLE — Winter weather is settling into place across Western Washington and the first taste of snow Monday spurred airlines to cancel flights in and out of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, SEA was operating under a weather-related traffic management program Tuesday morning, with arriving flights delayed by 34 minutes on average. Seattle-based Alaska Airlines preemptively canceled close to 100 flights and said further weather-related impacts could be possible throughout the week.
SEA is SnOw ready! We’re aware of & ready to respond to anticipated winter wxr. We'll remove snow from runways, taxiways, & ramp areas in and around gates & continue our normal cold weather ops w/ ongoing de-icing maintenance of these areas. "Our flight operations will be impacted on Tuesday and throughout the week," the airline wrote in a statement. "To get ahead of wintry conditions and to keep our operations running as smoothly as possible, we’ve proactively thinned our schedule. Additional cancellations are possible as we assess the weather's impact on our operation."
