SEATTLE — Puget Sound can expect active weather to continue well into next week, including some periods of stronger rain over the Olympics and heavy snow over mountain passes. According to the National Weather Service, dangerous avalanche conditions will continue into Saturday, and rain in the lowlands will become more showery as a weaker system moves across the region this weekend.

"Precipitation will begin to trend lighter after midnight and more noticeably after 4 AM Saturday morning," NWS Seattle said Friday. "Showers will remain over the area Saturday with more emphasis over the southern half of Western Washington."

More widespread rain will return next week, as snow levels drop to around 2,500 feet Monday. Temperatures next week will hover right around their seasonal norms in the upper 40s. Forecasters are also tracking a stronger system due Tuesday and lasting into Wednesday, which could make for another soaker.

"Ensemble guidance continues to broadly - but consistently - show a stronger Pacific frontal
system beginning to affect the region by midweek," forecasters said. "This will likely bring another round of widespread and potentially impactful precipitation as well as wind, and enhanced coastal hazards."
