• Washington floods: More than a dozen people rescued from trailer homes, cars (seattletimes.com) — Floodwaters from this week’s storms led West Mason Fire crews to rescue a man and his cat from a flooded car in Shelton early Tuesday, along a repeatedly dangerous stretch of Skykomish Valley Road. Their rescue was one of several across Western Washington, as rising rivers, closed roads, and ignored barricades forced emergency teams into late-night operations and renewed warnings to avoid high water.
   

• Washington residents face dire flood conditions along swelling rivers (seattletimes.com) — Shelton drivers are again in danger on Skokomish Valley Road, where West Mason firefighters pulled a man and his cat from a flooded car early Tuesday and urged everyone to obey closure signs. Their rescue is part of a much larger flooding emergency across Western Washington, with evacuations, National Guard deployments, and record river levels threatening homes, roads, and even animal shelters.
