Power Line Work May Disrupt I-5 In Shoreline, Edmonds
Seattle City Light crews will move power lines starting Sept. 16 for the Lynnwood light rail project.
SHORELINE, WA — The light rail line between Northgate and Lynnwood won't open until 2024, but work on the project is well underway. This week, Seattle City Light crews will be moving overhead power lines above I-5 for the project — and that means delays for two consecutive nights.
Luckily, the work will happen during the overnight hours, midnight to 4 a.m. through Sept. 18.
"To complete this work safely, Washington State Patrol troopers and contracted crews must intermittently conduct rolling slowdowns of traffic in both directions of I-5 to ensure safe work operations and passage for motorists. Traffic will be intercepted and escorted at slow speeds for up to 15 minutes between Lynnwood and north Seattle as crews pull overhead feeder cables across the highway. Traffic will return to normal speeds once past the work area," City Light wrote in a bulletin about the work.
