• Pierce County Library System announces updated hours with more weekend availability (kiro7.com) — Starting January 18, the University Place Pierce County Library will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday–Sunday, adding more weekend access. These new Pierce County Library System hours aim to better serve busy families and expand community-focused programs across local branches.
   

• More weekend hours, controversial staff changes coming to Pierce Co. libraries (thenewstribune.com) — University Place Library will shift to longer, standardized hours starting Jan. 18, opening 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday–Sunday. System-wide, Pierce County libraries are reorganizing into regions, rotating staff among branches, and negotiating with the employees’ union while trying to close a multimillion‑dollar budget gap without layoffs or major program cuts.
