• UPD issues Community Notice following reports involving 'sextortion' (thedaonline.com) — WVU’s University Police are warning students about recent online sextortion scams and urging anyone targeted to stop contact and call law enforcement immediately. Students can reach UPD by phone, in person, or via the LiveSafe app, and Morgantown residents can also contact the city’s police department directly for help with related harassment or fraud concerns.
   

• School building authority to fund 12 West Virginia projects, denies 18 (wowktv.com) — Morgantown families should know that state school officials are continuing funding for the new Suncrest Middle School as part of $49 million awarded to 12 counties for 2026 projects. While many requests were denied, the School Building Authority prioritized critical facility upgrades, additions, and new construction, including the Morgantown project, to address aging buildings and overcrowding across West Virginia.
   

• Trump weighs pardon for Samourai founder with just four days before prison (cryptopolitan.com) — Morgantown’s federal prison camp, FPC Morgantown, is where Samourai Wallet founder Keonne Rodriguez is scheduled to report in four days, even as Donald Trump says he’ll consider a pardon. The case centers on alleged money laundering through a privacy-focused bitcoin wallet and has become a flashpoint in ongoing national debates over crypto regulation and presidential clemency.
