- The Parkersburg Activity and Recreation Center will be the topic of a public forum at the City Park Pavilion at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, May 16). The forum is designed to allow residents to learn more about the Parkersburg Activity and Recreation Commission's vision, as well as share thoughts, ideas, and concerns. The proposed $13 million project will include a 58,000-square-foot event center —a notable increase in capacity from the current facility's 10,500 square feet. (Parkersburg News)
- The YMCA of Parkersburg will host its Summer Preview event from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, to showcase its summer activities. Visitors will have the chance to try out programs such as Mud Run obstacle courses, Tae Kwon Do kicks, and pool introductions for kids. Families can also enjoy popcorn and refreshments and free entry into the YMCA to use the indoor pool and other facilities. (Parkersburg News)
- The Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC) has reopened in Parkersburg due to additional funding through the Inflation Reduction Act. The appointment-only office at 700 Market St. is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Taxpayers can call 844-545-5640 to schedule an appointment or visit IRS.gov for more information. - Parkersburg will honor the start of National Police Week today (Monday, May 15) at 11 a.m. at City Hall. The ceremony will include awards, presentations, and a memorial wreath laying. (Parkersburg News)
- Over the weekend, the Parkersburg and Belpre Shimmy Mobs performed at the Point Park amphitheater to raise awareness for domestic abuse. The Shimmy Mob, an annual international belly dance flash mob held on World Belly Dance Day, aims to support local women's and children's shelters. (WTAP)
