United Way Alliance outlines policy for warming stations (newsandsentinel.com) — Parkersburg-area residents will now have a single, organized point of contact through the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley to find safe warming and cooling stations during extreme weather. Wood County commissioners approved a policy setting minimum safety and operating standards for shelters, aiming to better coordinate pop-up sites, protect volunteers and guests, and avoid last winter’s confusion over where people could go.

Parkersburg City Council elects new leadership amid public speaking dispute (wtap.com) — Parkersburg City Council has chosen Andrew Borkowski as its new president and Sharon Kuhl as vice president, shifting leadership for the coming year. The meeting also spotlighted a heated dispute over public speaking rules and introduced a proposed rental housing ordinance aimed at ensuring basic safety standards like heat, water, and electricity in local rentals.

He says the illness can escalate from a mild cough to dangerous, weeks-long fits, especially threatening infants, seniors and anyone unvaccinated, and stresses vaccination to protect Parkersburg families.

Parkersburg South beats Capital 81-69 thank to record-breaking night from Silvis (wtap.com) — Parkersburg fans saw history as Parkersburg South’s Harry Silvis poured in 44 points to set a new single-game school scoring record in an 81-69 win over Capital. The Patriots controlled the game despite several late Capital runs, with key contributions from teammates like Baron Davis, Darius Thomas, and others to secure the home victory.
