• Parkersburg Christian lets lead slip, falls to Valley 54-49 (newsandsentinel.com) — Parkersburg Christian’s girls basketball team let a 12-point halftime lead slip away in a 54-49 loss to Valley at the Mary ‘O’ Crusaderette Classic in Parkersburg. Despite strong double‑double efforts on the boards and balanced scoring, turnovers and a late Valley surge kept the Knights from reclaiming the lead in the final minute.
   

• Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy graduates 65 cadets (newsandsentinel.com) — A Parkersburg cadet, Elijah Wright, was honored as Most Improved Cadet at the Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy North graduation held Dec. 17 at Camp Dawson. He was one of 65 graduates recognized for completing the 22‑week program, which focuses on life skills and leadership development for young men and women across West Virginia.
   

• Concord University announces Fall 2025 Dean's List (wvpress.org) — Two Parkersburg students, Payton Harvey and Hallie Somerville, earned spots on Concord University’s Fall 2025 Dean’s List, representing the city among high-achieving students statewide and beyond. The long list highlights West Virginians and out-of-state students who maintained at least a 3.5 GPA while taking full-time course loads.
