Volunteers distribute more than 100 food boxes during Wood County Christmas food drive (newsandsentinel.com) — Parkersburg families in need picked up nearly all of 120 holiday food boxes during a drive-thru Christmas food drive at the Wood County Resiliency Center. Local partners, including WVU at Parkersburg Foundation and the Salvation Army of Parkersburg, helped provide hams, sides, and dessert ingredients, and organizers are already planning to expand the effort—and possibly add pet treats—for next year.

Wood County music teacher selected for Rose Parade (wtap.com) — A Wood County music teacher based in Parkersburg has been chosen as one of just 325 band directors nationwide to march in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Jeff Treadway, who teaches at Jefferson Elementary and other county schools, is the only representative from Wood County and is busy memorizing music and training for the five‑and‑a‑half‑mile route.

St. Joseph Recovery Center introduces Nelly (wtap.com) — St. Joseph Recovery Center in Parkersburg has welcomed a therapy-style dog named Nelly, adopted from the Humane Society of Parkersburg, to comfort patients and staff. After a successful trial, Nelly quickly bonded with residents, easing anxieties and inspiring center leaders to encourage other facilities to consider similar partnerships with the local shelter.

Teen of the Week: Parkersburg Catholic's Evan Franklin organizes successful food drive (newsandsentinel.com) — A Parkersburg Catholic High School sophomore is being recognized for leading a food drive that brought in nearly 800 items for a local church pantry serving nearby communities. Through Scouts, tennis, Quiz Bowl, and his studies, he’s building leadership and problem-solving skills while already making a tangible difference close to home.
