  1. Construction has commenced on a new section of the Point Park trail, which is initially a state project but will eventually be maintained by the City of Parkersburg. The project received funding from the Department of Transportation's alternative transportation grant. Residents, including Wendy Tuck, are anticipating the completion of the trail expansion, as it promises to promote a more active community across all age groups. (WDTV 5 News)
  2. The Henry Cooper Log Cabin Museum in City Park will open for the season on Jun. 4, offering free tours. Additional activities announced for June include Flag History Day on Jun. 11, West Virginia and Father's Day celebration on Jun. 18, and Craft Day on Jun. 25, where children can engage in craft-making after a museum tour. The cabin, which dates back to 1805, has undergone rehabilitation and is open to visitors on Sundays through Labor Day, as well as by appointment. (Parkersburg Sentinel)
  3. The Wood County Commission is seeking a new E-911 Director. This position is full-time and will be responsible for operations at the Wood County 911 Communications Center. Further requirements and responsibilities can be located online. (Wood County Government)

  • Get ready to embrace the mud! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Jun. 3 for the Mud Run/obstacle course hosted by the YMCA of Parkersburg.
