  1. Despite storms, the 16th annual Taste of Parkersburg festival was held on Saturday, Jun. 3. Locals, as well as visitors, filled Bicentennial Park to enjoy music, food, and everything else the event had to offer. The event ran through to 11 p.m. (WTAP)
  2. Nearby Marietta's Tatum Parmer has resigned from the Marietta Community Foundation Board of Directors, effective the beginning of this week. Parmer is resigning because her family is leaving the area, per the release. Parmer said, "Serving on the board has been a true pleasure. It has been so rewarding to witness how our community is making the place I've called home for 23 years a special place." (Subscription: The Marietta Times)
  3. Abby Taylor, a teacher of environmental science at Parkersburg High School, is the first recipient of Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Action's Green Leadership Award. The award is meant to honor people in the Mid-Ohio Valley who have made exceptional contributions to bringing new thinking and practices into the area and helping make the transition to a more sustainable world. Taylor has been honored for her work in creating the youth Climate Ambassador Program. (Parkersburg News)

  • Timothy Kennedy, a suspect in a shooting that killed a WV trooper and injured another person in Mingo County, was taken into custody on Jun. 2 (WTAP)
  • Parkersburg Police Officer Jeremy Pinkerton will be patrolling City and Southwood parks this summer before returning to his role as a school resource officer at Hamilton Middle. (News and Sentinel)
  • Robert Hickman, of Parkersburg, was arrested last week on a warrant for 72 counts of distribution and exhibition of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Hickman is jailed at North Central Regional with a bond set at $250,000. (WTAP)
