Ohio County Commissioners To Stream Meetings Starting in Early 2026 (theintelligencer.net) — Ohio County Commission meetings in Wheeling will soon be livestreamed and archived on YouTube, giving residents an easier way to follow local decisions. Officials are currently testing an “owl camera” system via Zoom, with full public streaming expected sometime after the first of the year and links available through the county website.

2. $2,000 stipend for Ohio County school employees to come next March (wvmetronews.com) — Ohio County Schools employees based in and around Wheeling will receive a one-time $2,000 stipend next month to help offset rising PEIA health insurance premiums. School leaders say the payment, funded from carry-over reserves, is meant to ease financial strain and help retain teachers and staff as they compete with neighboring states, though it’s not guaranteed to recur.

Dimmeydale neighborhood gains historic district status in Wheeling (wtov9.com) — Dimmeydale has officially become Wheeling’s newest nationally recognized historic district, opening the door for some property owners to seek historic tax credits. Wheeling Heritage says the 1949 neighborhood’s designation reflects its architectural character and role in the city’s landscape, and hints that Elm Grove or Elm Terrace could be next.

Former Ohio Valley Drug Task Force commander sentenced (heraldstaronline.com) — A former commander of the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, who once served with the Wheeling Police Department, has been sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to repay more than $75,000 he stole from task force funds. Court documents say his gambling addiction fueled the thefts, and he must now undergo treatment, avoid gambling establishments, and follow strict financial monitoring while making restitution.

Wheeling Park senior named captain of West Virginia 4A All-State first team, 23 local athletes receive team honors (wtrf.com) — A standout season for Wheeling Park football is being celebrated as senior running back Brennan Wack is named captain of the Class AAAA All-State first-team offense, with several teammates also honored. In all, 23 area high school players, including athletes from Wheeling Central, Cameron, John Marshall, Tyler Consolidated, and Oak Glen, earned first- or second-team All-State recognition.
