16 WI Students Win Corporate Sponsored National Merit Scholarships
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation on Wednesday named 16 winners in Wisconsin for this year's first round of scholarship winners.
WISCONSIN — Sixteen students from across Wisconsin on Wednesday were named winners in the National Merit Scholarship Corporations' first round of awards for 2023.
The students are among around 840 high school seniors across the country who won the corporate-sponsored round of scholarships, according to a news release from the NMSC. Around 107 different companies and business organizations funded the scholarships.
The winners were picked out of a pool of students who advanced to the NMSC finalist level. The corporate sponsors give out awards to finalists who are children of there employees, residents of their company community, or who plan to pursue majors that the company wants to encourage, the NMSC release said.
