“Get vaccinated, stay healthy and enjoy Stout. It’s the finest polytechnic school, in my opinion, in the country,” Thompson said in a news release.

Thompson toured UW System colleges in early September, promoting the "70 for 70" incentive program. The program entered students into a drawing for a $7,000 scholarship if they get vaccinated once their campus reaches a 70 percent COVID-19 vaccination rate.

Thompson told Patch in September that he had no intention of mandating vaccinations in system schools.

Some 54.4 percent of Wisconsin residents have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series, Wisconsin Department of Health Services data showed. Some 57.2 percent of Wisconsin residents have had at least one vaccine dose.
