GREEN BAY, WI — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers confirmed Wednesday that he wants to play for New York Jets next season, ending his nearly two-decade run in Wisconsin.

"Since Friday, my intention was to play, and play for the New York Jets," he said Wednesday on Pat McAfee's live YouTube show.

Rodgers said he made his intentions "clear" to the Packers' front office since coming out of his "darkness retreat," during which he contemplated retirement. However, Rodgers said the Jets and Packers are still finalizing the details of his trade.

"It's the compensation that's holding things up," according to Rodgers.

On Tuesday, news broke that Rodgers had given the Jets a "wish list" of free agents he wants them to acquire.

That list includes tight end Marcedes Lewis and wide receivers Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Odell Beckham Jr., ESPN's Dianna Russini reported.

If a trade is completed, Rodgers will again be following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre. The Packers traded Favre to the Jets in 2008 after the organization drafted Rodgers.

Favre signed with the Minnesota Vikings a year later, leading them to a division title and a trip to the NFC Championship.
