Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Symptoms usually start six hours to six days after swallowing the bacteria. Most people recover within a week without medical treatment, according to the CDC.
Amid the recall, Milo’s Poultry Farms ceased production and distribution of all products and will undergo testing and sanitization of farms and processing equipment.
Consumers who have purchased the eggs are urged not to consume them. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 715-758-6709.
