Talking with David Herro of The Herro's Journey

Shortly after the premiere of The Herro's Journey, I interviewed David Herro, the film's subject. David discussed the film and more.

Over the last couple weeks, I wrote about the premiere of The Herro's Journey, as well as an interview I did with Producer David Vox Mullen and Director Danny Reyes. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of interviewing David Herro, the subject of the documentary.

A well-known and beloved Wisconsin promoter, David discussed the film about his life. He talked about the start, the process and seeing it come to fruition with the premiere at The Bend Theatre. David also addressed the topics of criticism of wrestling and possible nepotism, diffusing both with his usual candor and his ever-present smile.

That smile is seen throughout The Herro's Journey, with a few exceptions such as discussing his mother's death. I think we all shed a tear at that part of the film. Even when discussing his health woes (he has lost several toes and battles neuropathy), David remained positive.

Of course, that smile is never bigger than when he discussed his son Kal and rightly so. Their relationship is heartwarming to say the least.

The Herro's Journey gives a fantastic look into who David really is. I hope this interview gives another glimpse into David. I wanted to do this interview to show David and The Herro's Journey to as many people as possible.

I also wanted to do it as a personal "Thank you" to David for years of entertainment. Even more important, I want to thank David for accepting me into his group of #Superfriends right from the start many years ago. It's not just me though. To David, everyone who attends his shows or who supports him or Kal is a Superfriend. On behalf of all, as many expressed in the film, we f***ing love David.

Enjoy our interview. Look out for The Herro's Journey and check back here for updates.
