WISCONSIN — Safewise has released its rankings of the safest cities in every U.S. state, including Wisconsin. The report was released last month and named the safest cities in the country based on crime rates and other data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Mount Horeb was named the safest town in Wisconsin, according to the 2025 State of Safety in America rankings from Safewise.com.
Mount Horeb, a village of about 7,754, is part of the Madison metropolitan area in Dane County.

No murders were reported among the state's 20 safest cities, and those cities reported a collective total of just three robberies, which occurred in Oregon and Mequon.
Mount Horeb and Jackson both reported zero burglaries, while Port Washington, Plymouth, and Jackson had no motor vehicle thefts.

Fifteen cities saw year-over-year decreases in property crime, and ten saw decreases in violent crime. Waunakee experienced declines in both categories for the second year in a row.
Meanwhile, Mount Horeb, Port Washington, Sheboygan Falls, Kronenwetter, Muskego, Oregon, and McFarland all saw year-over-year drops in both property and violent crime.
Plymouth reported no violent crimes for the second consecutive year.
