WI Restaurant Ranks Among 100 Most Romantic In U.S.

WISCONSIN — Just in time for Valentine’s Day, OpenTable has released its annual list of the most romantic restaurants in America, which includes one from the Wisconsin Dells.

The reservation service released its 2025 iteration of the Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America, an elite list developed from more than 12 million diner reviews and other metrics, the site said.

The Del-Bar in Wisconsin Dells made the list.

"The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks," the restaurant's description reads.

"How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant's 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents."

The full list includes restaurants in 34 states and Puerto Rico. States with the most restaurants on the list were California with 11, Ohio with 9, and Florida and Virginia with six each.

One thing to keep in mind. Reservations book up quickly, with about half gone two weeks before Valentine’s Day, according to OpenTable.
