FOND DU LAC, WI — A Wisconsin man has eaten a Big Mac almost every day for 50 years.

Donald Gorske has held the record for most Big Mac burgers consumed in a lifetime since 1999, according to Guinness World Records, and, as of August 2021, his official total was 32,340 of the signature McDonald’s sandwich.

“I’ll probably be eating Big Macs every day for the rest of my life,” Gorske said in a post from Guinness World Records.

Gorske had his first Big Mac in 1972 at the McDonald’s in Fond du Lac, which he still patronizes today.

“In that moment, I said, ‘I’m going to probably eat these for the rest of my life,’” he told Guinness World Records.

Gorske’s portrait hangs on the wall at the Fond du Lac restaurant, which welcomed him last week with a sign that said, “Congrats Don on 50 years of Macs.”

Gorske believes that two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onion, on a sesame seed bun make for the “best sandwich in the world,” and there have only been eight days in the last half-century when he has not enjoyed one. He typically eats two Big Macs a day, and at one point, he was eating nine daily.

“Don Gorske did not tell me about his Big Mac obsession when we first met,” his wife, Mary Gorske, said in a video from Guinness World Records. “I’m not sure it was an obsession quite then. He ate Big Macs every day. As a matter of fact, sometimes I would bring him a Big Mac. But I didn’t realize it would go on forever.”

Donald Gorske keeps meticulous records of his burger consumption, cataloging each carton and receipt.

The steady diet of fast food does not seem to have taken a toll on his health. His blood sugar and cholesterol are normal, his wife said.

“I’ve got to thank my wife for being patient with me all these years,” he said.
