Wisconsin's Household Credit Card Debt Increased In 2021

WISCONSIN — Wisconsin families reduced credit card debt by record amounts in 2020; however, credit card debt is once again on the rise in our state and across the nation, according to a new report.
In the United States, credit card debt increased by more than $45 billion during the second quarter of 2021, a WalletHub study shows.
In Wisconsin, credit card debt increased by an average of $292 during the second quarter of 2021. The average Wisconsin household has $6,340 in credit card debt, according to WalletHub.

Wisconsinites rank 23rd when it comes to American families with the most credit card debt. At $9,078 per household, Californians lead the nation in credit card debt.
WalletHub projects that Americans will end 2021 with about $100 billion more in credit card debt than they started with.
