9-Year-Old Organizes Soccer Game For Charity

The "Dashing for Dollars" event will raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Editor's note: The following information was taken from a press release provided by the Make-A-Wish foundation.

On Saturday, June 8, nine-year-old Matthew Wimmer of Brookfield will coordinate a soccer game at Krueger Park, 10:00 a.m. to noon, benefiting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin during the “Dashing for Dollars” event.

Matthew has a passion for soccer and helping others. He decided to put his two passions together and host a soccer game where donations will be given to charity. Matthew chose Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and decided to name the event “Dashing for Dollars.”

Flat dollar donations or pledge per goal donations will be accepted. The event will host a 50/50 raffle and bake sale, and Scoopy from Culver’s will be there to help support the kids as they play soccer and raise money.

The Wimmer Family is very involved in cub scouts at Swanson Elementary School. Matthew’s father, Greg Wimmer, is the Pack 23 cub master and his mother, Candy is the den leader. Because Scouting is important to the family and many scouting members will be playing in the game, Matthew wanted the cub scouts to present the colors before the game.
