Brookfield's Fujiama Seeks Permission To Add Outdoor Dining

BROOKFIELD, WI — Fujiyama, a popular hibachi and sushi restaurant in Brookfield, is asking the city to add 50 outdoor seats to the restaurant's dining area.

The restaurant, located in a strip mall at 17395 W. Bluemound Rd., has applied for permission to add 50 seats to the exterior of their building amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in Wisconsin.

Brookfield's officials with the Common Council will meet Tuesday at the City Hall Council Chambers at 7:45 p.m. to consider the expansion.

Brookfield staff has already forwarded their recommendation to the Common Council that the Temporary Premise Extension and Temporary Use permits be approved, so long as the dining area is closed by 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

According to city officials, there would be a total of 11 tables, for a total of 50 additional seats. These tables would be separated by a minimum of six feet.

The seating area is adjacent to the building, on the sidewalk and parking stalls in front of Fujiyama and empty tenant spaces to the West.

The proposed area will be contained by a four-foot-high picket fence. The fence will be removed once the use is discontinued, city officials said.
