Construction Set To Improve I-94 And Moorland Road Interchange In July
A $3.8 million project to improve traffic flow and safety at the Interstate 94 and Moorland Road Interchange in Brookfield starts in July.

BROOKFIELD, WI — Construction on the Interstate 94 and Moorland Road interchange in Brookfield is set to begin in July and bring closures until the fall, transportation officials announced Wednesday.
The $3.8 million project, contracted primarily to Vinton Construction, is set to begin on July 5 in an effort to make safety and traffic flow improvements at the interchange, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The work is scheduled to wrap up in late fall 2023, though the weather may impact the schedule.
WisDOT said the anticipated improvements to the interchange include:

- Ramp improvements for safety and traffic flow.
- New traffic signals.
- Intersection improvements at Moorland Road and Carpenter Road.
- Repaving Moorland Road from Carpenter Road to slightly north of the interchange.
The exit ramp from west I-94 to north Moorland Road is set to close for around two months during the reconstruction, WisDOT said. Meanwhile, the left turn from Moorland onto west I-94 will be closed long-term.

- Long-term lane closures on northbound Moorland Road from Carpenter Road to north of the interchange
- Overnight lane closures on southbound Moorland Road from north of the interchange to Carpenter Road
- Overnight entrance ramp closures from Moorland Road to westbound I-94
- Carpenter Road at the intersection of Moorland Road is scheduled to close to traffic long-term.
Throughout the construction, one lane of traffic will be maintained on Moorland Road in each direction, alongside access to homes and businesses, according to WisDOT.
